This course is a hands-on investigation of the principles and problems unique to the practice of web-based and networked art. We will focus on the exploration of techniques, technologies and strategies for creating and analyzing images and interaction in the networked world.
We will explore three tracks throughout the semester:
  • Study of historical and current web-based art practices
  • Aesthetic and conceptual approach to building your own work
  • Hands-on technical investigation and debugging

course objectives:
  • Students will develop and demonstrate a technical and conceptual proficiency in making web-based art.
  • Students will gain a clear understanding of current and historical contexts for web-based art forms.
  • Students will critically observe and evaluate web-based art.

HYPERTEXT AND RECONTEXTUALIZATION
Using Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) to create non-linear, navigable text that augments or changes the meaning of the original.
